You can start your studies in the winter or summer semester<\/strong>, as most courses are offered every semester. You can therefore start in April or October. Three weeks before the start of the lecture period, all first-year students are offered a bridge course in mathematics<\/strong> to brush up on school mathematics and make the transition between school and university easier for you. This is also a good opportunity to familiarize yourself with the university and get to know your fellow students. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

You can gain insights into various research groups and actively make scientific discoveries as early as during your bachelor’s degree program. Many research groups offer students paid positions as student assistants, which not only provides you with financial support, but can also be an important step towards an exciting scientific career. The Bachelor of Science in Physics degree program teaches the basics of physics and forms the foundation for the advanced Master of Science in Physics degree program. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

You have a wide range of opportunities after earning a degree in physics. As a scientist, you can work in various research institutions<\/strong> \u2013 both in public institutions and on the free market. A physicist’s solution-oriented way of thinking is also in high demand in the financial sector <\/strong>and especially in management consultancies<\/strong>. The IT sector<\/strong> also offers exciting challenges, as graduates of this program are able to handle large amounts of data, model complex systems, or work in insurance companies to carry out risk analyses. In the first two semesters, you will learn the basics of experimental and theoretical physics as well as mathematical principles. You will also take an exciting minor subject of your choice \u2013 whether you stick to math or computer science in the STEM field or try out something completely different, such as philosophy or linguistics, is entirely up to you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the third semester onwards, you will deepen your theoretical knowledge, and hands-on aspects will be added: You will complete lab courses in which you will learn how to work with experiments in the laboratory and with measuring devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the fourth semester, you have the opportunity to choose lectures and seminars according to your chosen focus. This allows you to specialize in a topic and open up exciting fields of research. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In your bachelor's thesis, you can then take up your own physics-related topic or research question and gain further practical experience in scientific work.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

To be able to study at JGU, you need to have earned a suitable university entrance qualification (HZB). An example of this is a German Abitur, but there are also other types of qualifications. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
