You can start your studies in the winter or summer semester, as most courses are offered in every semester. You can therefore start in April or October. Three weeks before the start of lectures, all first-year students are offered a bridge course in mathematics to brush up on school mathematics and make the transition between school and university easier for you. This is also a good opportunity to familiarize yourself with the university and get to know your fellow students with whom you will later attend the lectures.

Studying at JGU not only allows you to gain practical experience through various school internships. You will also have the opportunity to teach pupils and test your teaching concepts in our teaching and learning laboratory. If you are interested, you can work as a research assistant in our student laboratory, at our particle physics master classes and at other events (Girl’s Day, Discovery Day), supervise students, carry out experiments with them and thus gain further important practical experience.

On the “Physics – Bachelor of Education” course, you will learn the basics of physics, a second subject and educational science. The course forms the foundation for the advanced course “Physics – Master of Education”.

The Physics Bachelor of Education course is the classic route into the teaching profession via the subsequent Master’s course and the traineeship. But with a degree, you also have many other options: For example, you can work as an editor in textbook publishing houses or work in science communication and bring research closer to a wider audience in an understandable way.

You can apply for the winter semester until September 1st and for a start in the summer semester until March 1st. Please note: in order to apply with international documents you need to get them recognized before you apply for a degree program (more information can be found here). All further information on enrollment and the application process can be found here.
