You must have a Bachelor of Education degree in the same subjects from a university in Rhineland-Palatinate or an equivalent degree from a university in Germany or abroad to apply for this master’s degree program. If you are applying with a university degree that is not fully equivalent to the required bachelor’s examination, but which includes at least 140 credit points which correspond to it, you can still be admitted to the master’s degree program under the condition that you earn the missing examinations and coursework by the end of the first academic year.
While JGU gives you the opportunity to gain practical experience through various school internships, there’s more, too: You will also have the opportunity to teach pupils and test your teaching concepts in our teaching and learning lab. You can supervise pupils while working as a research assistant in our kids lab, in our particle physics master classes, and at other events (Girl’s Day, Discovery Day) and carry out experiments with them, thus gaining additional important practical experience.
The Master of Education in Physics program, followed by the teacher traineeship, is the classic path to the teaching profession. However, you also have other options after earning this degree: For example, you can work as an editor in textbook publishing houses or work in science communication and make research accessible to a broader audience.
Apply for the winter semester by September 1 and by March 1 to start in the summer semester. All further information on enrollment and the application process can be found on the central JGU web pages.
